Arsenal Sign Gabriel Jesus From Man City
Arsenal sign Gabriel Jesus for £45m in a deal that will make him their new No.9. Arsenal has completed the long-term signing of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from Premier League champions Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta had the frontman on his wish list during the summer window, and he now has the Brazil international to fill that role.

The north London heavyweights will be hoping for the 25-year-old South American to make an immediate impact at Emirates Stadium, as his arrival from the reigning Premier League champions is a huge coup.
The Gunners worked with Jesus’ representative Marcello Pettinati for nearly six months to ensure they were in a pole position to sign him from City this summer. He is the fourth summer signing for the north London club, joining Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner, and Marquinhos.

Gabriel Jesus joining Arsenal: what has been said?

According to Arsenal technical director Edu: “We are delighted that we have secured the transfer of Gabriel. Everyone who knows football well knows the qualities of Gabriel Jesus.
“Gabriel is a player who we have admired for a long time now. He is 25 years old and an established Brazil international who has consistently demonstrated that he is a player at a very high level. We look forward to seeing him join up with his new teammates ahead of the new season. We all welcome Gabriel to Arsenal.”
Mikel Arteta, the Gunners coach added: “I’m very excited. The club has done a tremendous job to recruit a player of this stature. I know Gabriel personally very well, and we all know him well from his time in the Premier League and being really successful here.
He further stated, “This is a position that’s been on our radar for a long time now and we have managed to get a player that we all wanted, so I’m really happy.”
At the start of June, Jesus expressed his desire to join the Gunners and reunite with Mikel Arteta, who would regularly offer individual coaching and advice as Pep Guardiola’s assistant.
The strength of Arsenal’s pursuit, the fact that they were desperate for an attacker in his mold, and the opportunity for Jesus to assume more responsibility all appealed to him.
How long is Gabriel Jesus’ contract at Arsenal?
The proven top-flight performer has agreed to a five-year contract with the Gunners, which will reportedly take him until the summer of 2027.
How much did Arsenal pay for Gabriel Jesus?
Arsenal have spent £45 million ($55 million) to sign Jesus, a four-time Premier League champion with 56 international caps.
Which Arsenal shirt number will Gabriel Jesus wear?
According to reports, Jesus will wear the No.9 jersey at Arsenal.
Alexandre Lacazette left that shirt when he returned to Lyon as a free agent earlier this summer.
Jesus wore No.9 for City for the last three seasons, so he should feel right at home, and he will also be following in the footsteps of Lukas Podolski, Jose Antonio Reyes, and Nicolas Anelka by playing in north London.
Is Gabriel Jesus the right fit for Arsenal?

Sky Sports’ Alan Smith said: “This is not the finished article that Mikel Arteta is buying but there is a big potential for him to get better.
“He’s still young and he fits the profile that Arteta is trying to build in this Arsenal squad.
“He’s still hungry as a player and he’ll want to prove himself after being in and out of the Man City team, and that hunger is vital for Arteta because he’s got a squad of young players that do want to achieve in the game. Jesus will be no different.
“There is not a lot out there that you can get hold of, short of spending £100m-plus. Also, a lot of the top clubs would be after a player of that quality.
“So, I think Jesus is a very good signing for Arsenal and I think he fits with what Arteta is trying to do.”
How will Gabriel Jesus fare away from Man City?
former Brazil international Ze Roberto tells Sky Sports: “Gabriel Jesus is a player who has a lot of talent and a lot of potential, but he needs to have more playing time in order to gain confidence”.
“The mentality Pep Guardiola has is to rotate his whole team and give opportunities to every player, but I believe the best version of Gabriel Jesus is when he is motivated and playing consistently.
“When a player like Gabriel is in the team then out of it, it is very difficult for him to have stability and find confidence. I think it is always going to be difficult for that to change at Manchester City.”
Why did Arsenal sign Gabriel Jesus?
Arsenal have been looking for a new striker since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club.
The Gabonese international moved to Barcelona in January, and Alexandre Lacazette followed him out of Emirates Stadium as a free agent this summer, returning to Lyon.
Arsenal worked hard to re-sign Eddie Nketiah after his previous contract expired, but competition and rotation are needed in the final third of the field.
Jesus will provide that for the Gunners, and he will be looking to build on his impressive CV, which already includes 58 Premier League goals and 19 for his country, after being reunited with Arteta, with whom he previously worked at Man City.
Arsenal’s acquisition of Jesus demonstrates their seriousness.
This summer, who will Arsenal sign next?
Jesus is Arsenal’s third signing of the summer, following fellow Brazilian forward Marquinhos and Portugal midfielder Fabio Vieira, both of whom joined from Porto for £30 million ($37 million).
There could be more business to come, as the Gunners are still looking for reinforcements to add depth to their ranks ahead of their return to the Europa League in 2022-23.
Arsenal is one of several clubs interested in signing Leeds United winger Raphinha, but reports suggest that Chelsea has jumped to the front of the queue for the Brazil international.
