• Berea College is the only school in the United States that provides full funding to all enrolled international students during their first year. This combination of financial aid and scholarships helps to cover the costs of tuition, room, and board.
• In subsequent years, international students are expected to save $1,000 (US) per year to contribute to their expenses. However, the College does provide summer jobs to international students in order for them to fulfill this requirement.
• Accepted international students must pay a $50 (US) entrance fee as well as a $2,200 (US) deposit to confirm their enrollment. This deposit can be used for specific expenses by international students during their four years of enrollment. Additional financial aid is available for students who are unable to pay the entire or a portion of the deposit.
• Throughout the academic year, all international students are provided with a paid on-campus job through the College’s Work Program. Students may use their earnings (approximately $2,000 in the first year) to cover personal expenses.

3. Copy of official secondary school records

All secondary school records, university transcripts, matriculation exams, and other appropriate leaving exams must be included. Academic records should be translated into English and certified by school administrators.

4. Two Teacher Recommendation Forms

Whenever possible, request that those writing recommendations on your behalf submit the official form available through the online application portal. You can also download the form here and upload the completed form to your online application portal. The school accepts written recommendations, preferably typed, that are not completed using our official form. All recommendations must be written in English.

5. Official Test Scores

All international applicants are required to submit a report from one of the following exams: IELTS, Duolingo, TOEFL, SAT, or ACT. Students from English-speaking countries are required to meet this requirement. Even if you have requested an official copy from the testing center, you must submit a copy of your test report as part of your online application. More so, International applicants are not permitted to apply test-optionally.

6. Financial Resources Confirmation Form

This form should be filled out by a school administrator, employer, religious leader, or another person who can speak about your personal and financial resources, as well as any barriers to your pursuit of higher education. A close relative may NOT fill out this form. However, the Financial Resources Confirmation Form must be completed in English.

7. Previous International Applicants

If you have previously applied to Berea and wish to reapply, a new online application, including all supporting materials, must be submitted (test scores, transcripts, recommendations, etc.).
