Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Another Record: Manchester United and Chelsea drew 1-1 thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal against Chelsea to end his Premier League goalscoring drought. This happened as Cristiano Ronaldo breaks the league Duke record against Chelsea. That all has changed, the record has been broken.

United’s first hour had been disappointing for the Reds before he netted his 101st league goal for the club. In the first half, Chelsea controlled most of the game and had just taken the lead through Marcos Alonso.

The 37-year-old shows no signs of letting up on his goal-scoring ability. He has now scored 23 goals in all competitions this season, the same number he had when he was 23 years old in 2006-07.

Of course, Ronaldo did score a memorable goal against Chelsea in the 2008 Champions League final, when he rose to head in Wes Brown’s right-wing cross. That night in Moscow would end in triumph, thanks to a penalty shoot-out.

In the past, the Portugal international has also provided a couple of assists against the capital club.

At the hour mark, Marcos Alonso opened the scoring for the visitors, firing a low effort past David de Gea after being found unmarked inside the United penalty area by a Kai Havertz cross. Chelsea had dominated the opening hour of chances and had the lion’s share of possession, so the goal had been a long time coming.

United drew level after just two minutes when the Blues gave former midfielder Nemanja Matic time and space on the ball to thread a pass-through for Ronaldo, who took a touch before firing a powerful effort into the goal.

It was his 12th Premier League match against Chelsea in his career and he scored a lethal goal past Edouard Mendy. Ronaldo now has five Premier League goals in his last five matches and eight in his last nine.

Important Notice: The last time Chelsea defeated Manchester United in the Premier League was in November 2017, when Alvaro Morata’s header won the game at Stamford Bridge. As an indication of how much time has passed, both managers on that day – Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho – have since managed Tottenham and held positions in Italy. They hadn’t won at Old Trafford since 2013 when Juan Mata scored the game-winning goal under Sir Alex Ferguson.
