- General English Language Test requirements: (6.5) overall (no band less than 6.0) in IELTS and (79 +) Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18, and Writing 21 in TOEFL.

- A bachelor’s degree requires at least four years of full-time study in a relevant field and usually includes a research component in the fourth year, leading to an honors 1 or 2A in that field.
- A course leading to a level deemed equivalent to an honors 1 or 2A in a relevant field by the relevant department, faculty, and committee.
- Scholarships are given based on an applicant’s academic performance, research output, and prior research experience.
- A master’s degree that requires work, typically with a significant research component, and includes at least 25% of one full-time equivalent year of work, including a thesis. A grade of honors 2A or higher is usually expected for the research thesis or project. When there is no grade, examiners’ reports will be considered.
- Have qualifications that are considered equivalent by GRC.
- Have not previously held a Postgraduate Research Award funded by the Australian Government or Monash University for more than six months.
