Tiwa Savage, a top Nigerian singer, has added another feather to her hat after being recognized by an international institution, Kent University. The Nigerian singer will receive an honorary doctorate degree in music from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom.

According to a statement posted on the university’s website, the ceremony will take place in Canterbury from July 11 to July 15, and in Rochester on July 20.

Tiwa Savage will receive the honorary degree alongside nine (9) other inspiring individuals, including Abdulrazak Gurnah, the 2021 Nobel Laureate for Literature and Kent emeritus professor.

The statement states: “Kent is looking forward to awarding honorary degrees to ten inspirational individuals during its congregation ceremonies at Canterbury and Rochester cathedrals during July 2022.

“Among those to receive awards will be singer-songwriter and Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage, and the 2021 Nobel Laureate for Literature and Kent emeritus professor, Abdulrazak Gurnah. The ceremonies will take place at Canterbury from 11-15 July and Rochester on 20 July”.

Tiwa earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Kent, and she is one of ten people who will receive Honorary degrees from the university.
